The problem with pigeons

Started by: scorpion (884)

What's Wigan council going to do about all the pigeons at top of Wigan? The benches are always full of muck as well as the pavement surrounding them. You can't have a sit down anywhere really there because of it.

How often do the benches and pavements get cleaned around there? And if you try get rid of them you get the grief off those who enjoy feeding them. There's even someone who comes everyday to feed them. They call her Bird woman.

It should be like Bolton where you can get a fine for feeding them. There are signs in the market saying not to feed them. Why none at top of Wigan? Rant over.

Very good article Scorpion , Yes i do agree i think Wigan Clowncouncil should adopt what Bolton have done in respect of fines for feeding them. also what i want to rant over is the SHeeer lack of benches seats etc in and around our town ie i find it very difficult these days to walk great distances and find the lack of seating in the town deplorable at the very least, so i would like to see more benches /seats provided for the elderly and disabled to rest a while . We keep being told that Wigan care's ! Wel i for one do not agree .

The pigeons will only be massing there if there is a food source, and nowadays waste food from catering establishments in the town centre, are kept in sealed containers, so the source of food will be coming from people, who whilst feeding themselves, are also chucking pieces of food to the pigeons, because that is what folk do, and having someone feeding them purposely will increase the pigeon numbers, so I agree, bring in a bye-law banning the feeding of pigeons.

If I am in the town centre, and I want a sit down, I go into the Market Hall and park me bum in there

TTS

I also sit in the market and prefer to eat my own food in their seating area.

If there are to many seats then the alleged down and outs will only sleep on them

So how often does the seating area get cleaned then or does Wigan council just let the rain do it?

When the early morning cleaning squad came out on Saturday and Sunday morning, and I presume they still do that now, I have seen the council jet washing the pavement, road and seating areas in Market Place, because of the state Market Place had been left in from the night before, food spills mainly, but some puke too, and no doubt poo and wee also

The pigeons need to be thankful that, the big fast food restaurants haven't discovered they taste good and are full of nutrients and vitamins and, they're easy to catch and easy to 'dress ' Once MacflippingDonald discovers their value, or Kentucky fried pigeon , They'll move out faster than immigrants come across the channel,

The pest pulled up, propped his pushbike at a pillar box, pulled his ‘peen, paused at a post and pissed.

‘Piss in the proper place’ pronounced a perturbed pedestrian, and presently, this particular part of the planet was plunged into a panorama of public pressure and pleasure through pain.

The pandemonium prompted the police, who patrolled the precinct in panda cars, to pull up and peruse the problem, while pickpockets picked pockets in pairs.

‘Arrest the pest who so pointedly pissed in that public place’ pleaded the peeved people, practically palpitating.

The powerful police picked up the pest: pronounced him a poof, a pansy, a punk rocker, a pinko, a poodle poker. they picked him up, pummeled his pelvis, punctured his pipes, played ping-pong with his pubic parts, and packed him in a place of penal putrifaction.

The period in prison prooved pitiless. the pendulous pressure of a painless personality purge prompted the pest to ponder upon progessive politics… and a workable prognosis.

He put pen to paper and provatively and persuasively propogated his personal political premise — pity: a police provacateur put poison pellets in the pest’s porridge. the police provacateur was promoted, and the pest was presented with the Pulitzer peace prize… posthumously.
